expert advice ON UTI's

(14/1/09 23:53:21)

I have a permanent urinary tract infection caused by the bladder's inability TO empty itself.I've had all the treatments including a prostate reduction which, it transpired, was not necessary.I use a daily (external) catheter to empty the bladder and I have tried all manner of antibiotic regimes including a month at low dose or a month at high dose trimethoprim to solve the problem but a few days after the medication ends back it comes-probably because of the introduction of the catheter. It's driving me crazy.Even my GP IS stumped.
Can you suggest a sensible antibiotic regime that will ease the situation without the problem OF building resistance TO the medication.I'm 66 yeares old.Oh,and cranberry juice doesn't WORK-AT least NOT FOR me.I really could do WITH SOME expert advice.
Kind regards
J Richards
