Confusion of c o p d

Hi there i would just like to ask you about a problem i have. I was diagnosed with severe c o p d in 2005 i have recently had another chest x ray which has now shown mild c o p d i am very confused as i was told at first it would not be reversible. I still have the same symptons ie shortness of breath, wheezing day and night and chest pains i gave up smoking 6 months ago is this at all possible to now be diagnosed with mild c o p d.
