NHS still good at 60?

2nd February 2009

Lord Darzi has this week published his report 'High Quality Care FOR ALL'  to coincide with the NHS's 60th birthday.

Lord Darzi claims 'the challenge for the Next Stage Review was to help local patients, staff and the public in making changes they need and want for their local NHS.  High Quality Care for All is about enabling those visions to be delivered and supporting improvements that have been developed and agreed locally.'

ARE there ANY changes that you would LIKE TO see IN the NHS over the NEXT 10 years?

Share your experiences AND visions FOR the 21st century NHS AND post your comments here....

I attend hospital when my sister went unconscious and they were fabulous in accident and emergancy. When she was transfered to the ward it was busy, noisy and no-one seemed to know what was happening. The ward was clean though and the cleaners were there very regularly....from that point of view an improvement I think. I think a lack of money will prevent all the things Lord Darzi recommends being put in place...but we can hope!

After my accident I was rushed TO hospital WHERE AS I lay unconscious the staff ON duty that night saved my life! The treatment I had was fantastic AT a TIME I needed it the most. If I had have had my accident IN USA I would have had TO pay $1000's or be well insured. The NHS is free to everyone and not a bottomlesspit of money as some seem to think!

After my mother has been IN hospital recently I think it will be a tall order TO implement ALL OF the recommendations...the staff were rushed off their feet AND there seemed TO be little communication BETWEEN members OF staff...I had TO repeat my requests FOR information about her condition constantly!
I am a great supporter OF the NHS AND hope that my experience was a MORE isolated CASE
